Hong Kong Pet Peeve Today: Tomato in My Fruit Salad

Fresh fruit salads and freshly squeezed juices are fast, easy and cheap in Hong Kong at any of the many little fruit shops. That is most certainly not my pet peeve – especially when you can get a delicious kiwi-dragon fruit juice for no more than US$2 (compare that with a place like Jamba Juice back in the states!).

I also love getting big boxes of fruit salad for under US$3, and filled with beautiful exotic fruits including lychee, dragonfruit, papaya, guava, and MORE! Amazing, huh?

What’s not so amazing — that some vendors put in a grape tomato in there. For me that is not my idea of a fruit salad, even though yes, tomato is a fruit and not a vegetable. But no – it just doesn’t go in there. Please stop.
